Experimental developments have been conducted on the acoustic emission of a Cold and a Hot free supersonic jet subjected to water injection in order to mitigate the radiated noise. The first part focuses on the acoustic effects of water injection and allows to show how the jet temperature influences the radiated noise and the efficiency of water injection, whereas the second one proposes the study of the dynamic of the water inside the supersonic jet through PIV measurements. By combining acoustic and velocity measurements of similar configurations, a better understanding of the mechanisms responsible of sound reduction can be achieved.
